Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6-8 pieces Jalapenos Choose larger ones for easy filling
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened for easy mixing
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Any cheese you prefer
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Optional but adds great flavor
  • 1 tube Crescent Roll Dough Helps shape mummies
  • As needed Candy Eyes For decoration
  • 6-8 strips Bacon Optional, great for an added twist

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet.
  • Cut the jalapenos in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds with a spoon. Wear gloves to avoid getting pepper oil on your hands.
  • In a bowl, mix together cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and garlic powder until well blended.
  • Fill each jalapeno half generously with the cheese mixture.
  • Slice the crescent roll dough into thin strips and wrap the filled jalapenos like mummies.
  • Press in the candy eyes or any substitute before baking.

Baking

  • Bake the wrapped jalapenos for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can prep the jalapenos ahead of time and store them in the fridge. If using bacon instead of dough, wrap it around the jalapenos, skip the dough, and bake for about 20 minutes. If you can’t find candy eyes, you can use olives, sriracha, or cream cheese with peppercorns.
