Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stand mixer with dough hook (optional)
  • Rolling pin
  • Sharp knife or dental floss (for cutting dough)
  • Baking dish (9x13 inches)
  • Plastic wrap or kitchen towel (for covering dough)
  • Pastry brush (for glazing)
  • Wire rack (for cooling)

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk 110°F / 43°C
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). Stir in the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  • Add softened butter, egg, honey, and the activated yeast mixture. Mix with a dough hook (if using a stand mixer) or by hand until a dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size
  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the risen dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
  • Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish, leaving space between them. Cover and let them rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Adjust consistency as needed.
  • While the buns are still warm, drizzle the honey glaze generously over the top.
  • Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
