Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • If using fresh broccoli, steam it for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. If using frozen broccoli, thaw and drain well to remove excess moisture.

  • Prepare the rice according to package instructions or use precooked rice.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.

Assembly and Baking

  • Add the cooked chicken, broccoli, rice, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce. Stir until evenly coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole and add breadcrumbs if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider swapping proteins (turkey or seafood), experimenting with different cheeses, adding more vegetables, or making it vegetarian with chickpeas or tofu. Avoid common mistakes by ensuring proper cooking times and seasoning.
